I'm 5'2" and this 17" pack fits perfectly. It weighs ~4 lbs empty which seems fairly standard for this style backpack. The features I wanted were a sideopening (like a suitcase) a pocket to store the shoulder straps(in case I have to check it) and a pocket for my Ipad. In addition, this pack also has some smaller outside pockets for passport, cellphone, anything you may need to access easily. It has an adjustable holder for a water bottle with an additional strap to secure it. It also has straps to cinch the backpack tighter to decrease the fullness.A previous contributer commented that it would be better for the smaller ouside pockets to be against your back so they couldn't be accessed by pickpockets. I don't disagree but I always use a travel waist belt for my important papers so that's not an issue for me. I was looking for a backpack with a waist belt also but that typically adds another 40.00 to the cost. This backpack doesn't really shift too much when I bend over so it wasn't worth the extra expense. I'm only using it in airports. If I planned to go hiking I would have looked for a much different backpack. I packed a poncho, sweatshirt, 5 pair of slacks, 7 tops, personal items, brush, ipad, essentially enough for 1+ week and had additinal space left to pack more. The stitching and zippers look like they will hold up well with heavy use. Overall, this is the pack I plan to use for a 3 week vacation next spring. Great price and well constructed. Since I havent used it yet I only gave it 4 stars but I have no doubts it will earn 5 once I travel with it.In the name of being cheap and avoiding airline baggage fees, I bought 3 of these bags. They were easy to carry as a backpack- although you can hold it like a suitcase but not preference. The bag can hold a lot of clothes!! I laid the clothes flat instead of rolled or folded, my oldest child folded clothes nicely and my 12 years just stuffed clothes haphazardly. We did 3 weeks of travel (each with 1 bag). My bag was probably packed too much which made it heavier but that was due to all of my clothes :). We have used the bags about 3 times for airline travels as carryons in the span of a 5-6 weeks and it has been so much easier when navigating our travel. I appreciate the pockets and compartments as well as the straps that can be tighten when worn as a backpack. I think you will be surprised about the capacity and the bag itself might be bigger than you anticipate.I thought I wanted to look sheik, so I bought an expensive backpack with genuine leather far more visually appealing than this one. Unfortunately, upon hearing how many suitcases weren't making to their destinations I decided I needed to get a good amount of my clothing into the thing. When I went to try and get all my stuff into the beauty, I quickly found that my "pretty" one just wasn't fitting all my necessities. This backpack is not all that impressive to look at; however, it isn't horrible either. It has several nice pockets to keep my things neatly organized, enough roominess to fit four days worth of clothes, all my travel-sized toiletries, AND all my in-flight essentials. The actual seller, though, is the comfy straps with padding so that the 20lbs of "essentials" I crammed into it doesn't tear into my poor bony shoulders too much. Ultimately, I will take the less aesthetic piece that fits all of my creature comforts over the stylish but lacking. This backpack feels well-made and sturdy while delivering a wealth of space and neatness. I highly recommend it.I bought this to use when traveling with solely a “personal item” (under the seat in front of you). I have used this on United, Spirit, Southwest, and Frontier, and it has fit under the seat in front of me for all of them (but it’s a little bit of a squeeze if you packed it completely full.) Was worth the price for me.I've only used this for a month but so far it's lived up to its expectations. The design is very well thought out (everything seems practical, no "wtf were they thinking" components), and the padding on the back makes it pretty comfy even when stuffed full and quite heavy. The look and quality (e.g. the zippers) are also really impressive for the price. I looked at tons of options and even ordered two others, but sent those back. I've recommended this bag to friends, so would recommend it to you as well, dear reader.This backpack is everything I had hoped for. It has multiple interior and exterior compartments to help me maintain organization. My laptop fits nicely in the middle storage compartment. I think it is an excellent choice for a carry on item when flying. The largest compartment is great for a jacket or extra set of clothes.I really like that the straps can be stored in a zipped up compartment when they are not needed. For the price, this backpack is an excellent value!This bag came in handy while traveling to Indonesia. Perfect size for a carryon. Could fit in the overhead compartment as well as under most seats if needed. Loved all the different pouches and pockets this had so I could keep my things organized.I was impressed by how many pockets this back pack had and how much I was able to fill it with. More importantly, after an airline misplaced our checked bags for five days after a previous vacation, we were able to travel for two weeks with two hard-sided carry on roller bags, a large purse, and this pack. Even when it was very full, I could get it under a seat or in the overhead compartment. During the trip, I could empty it in the hotel room and just take what I needed for the day and it was comfortable to carry.This is a fantastic backpack for carry-on travel; really impressed at quality in comparison with much more expensive offerings. Good capacity, and just what we were looking for in the current post-pandemic airline chaos with the high probability of lost luggage. Have yet to test it in action but early impression is that it will be up to the task. Would recommend.The sizing is completely wrong.
